Eating Smart Seasoning Mix (makes extra to store):
1 1/4 teaspoons black pepper
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
3/4 cup dried minced onion
2 cups non-fat dried milk
Directions:
- Prepare the Seasoning Mix: In a medium bowl, combine black pepper, garlic powder, parsley flakes, dried minced onion, and non-fat dried milk. Store any extra mix in an airtight container for future recipes.
- Prepare the Dish: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles. Once cooked, drain any excess fat.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the water, uncooked macaroni, diced tomatoes (with liquid), chili powder, and 1/2 cup of the prepared Eating Smart Seasoning Mix to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
- Cook Until Tender: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the skillet and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the macaroni is tender.
- Season and Serve: Taste and add a small amount of salt if desired. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the dish, cover the skillet, and let it sit for 1 minute until the cheese melts.
- Serve Hot: Dish up and enjoy this hearty, flavorful one-pot meal!
