Hey, GrayViners!

Alright, folks, it’s April Fools’ Day—aka the one day a year when we question everything we hear and trust absolutely no one.

So, let’s hear it: What’s the best (or worst) April Fools’ prank you’ve ever pulled or fallen for?

I’ll go first… In my previous work, I told my coworker the office coffee machine was upgraded to voice activation. We all watched as they stood there, loudly demanding “Espresso! Large coffee! Work, you s***** machine!” for a full minute before realizing they’d been duped. Safe to say, I had to fetch my own coffee for a while after that. 😅

Now it’s your turn! Whether you pulled off a legendary prank or got completely bamboozled, drop your stories below. Let’s get some laughs going! 😂

Cheers!
Blue 💙

My so was is middle school and had never been in trouble at school that I knew of. He was big on April fools pranks so I came up with a prank to pull on him. When he came home from school I said "Hey, is there something that you would like to tell me? " He said "No." That's when I said "I got a call from school today." My son blurts out " Mom, that kid had it coming for weeks!" I was like "what?" Here he had been in a fight at school that day and I had no idea. Jokes on me...Again!

When my sons were young I had a girlfriend who was in a tumultuous relationship and would often hang out at my house. On March 31 after the boys were asleep I took a pair of jeans and old sweatshirt and stuffed them with towels. I then sat my dummy in the recliner in the living room and added socks stuffed with washcloths. I reclined the chair and propped up a newspaper which was supported with cardboard on my dummy's lap. I wish I had a picture to show you. With the lights low it looked like someone was sitting in the chair reading the paper. When my sons woke up on April 1st, I told them to be very quiet because my friend came over last night and fell asleep in the chair. It was hysterical watching my two normally loud and rambunctious boys tip-toeing around the house.

When I was around 9 yrs old my older cousin had told me some pranks to play for April Fools. We had steaks that night for dinner. I had put sugar in the salt shaker on the table. My dad kept salting[sugaring] his steak, trying to figure out why it taste so odd. It wasn't a funny prank, when he found out what I had done.

I was the manager of watch and jewelry repair for a local Sears store. We also sold clocks and watches too. I set every alarm in the dept to go off as the associates were closing out for the day. I am at home and my phone rang. It was the closing associate. I said "hello" and all I heard was, you bit&h!! I laughed so hard.

Thanks so much for sharing that story @Carol * — what a twist ending! 😂 It must’ve been such a surprise when your prank turned into an unexpected confession. Kids really do keep us on our toes, don’t they? Looking back, did you two end up laughing about it later on—or did he have some explaining to do first? And has he ever tried to get you back with a prank of his own?

Thank you for sharing that @NERAKRETROP — what a brilliantly creative prank! I can just picture those tip-toeing boys trying not to wake the “guest.” 😂 You really went all out with the setup—sounds like it could’ve starred in a home prank show! Did your sons eventually figure it out on their own, or did you let them in on the joke? And have you ever tried to top that prank in later years, or was that the peak of April Fools' at your place?

Thanks for sharing that memory @tennis — it’s such a classic kid prank! 😅 It’s always funny how innocent mischief can backfire, especially when dinner is involved. Sounds like your dad got quite the surprise bite! Did your cousin ever get in trouble for giving you the idea, or did you have to take all the heat yourself? And looking back now, do you laugh about it with your family—or is steak night still a sensitive topic? 😄

Thanks for sharing that @Jazzgoddess — what a hilarious and perfectly timed prank! 😄 Setting all the alarms to go off at closing time is pure genius. I can just imagine the chaos and the look on their faces! Did they ever manage to get you back with a prank of their own after that? And was April Fools’ Day always a thing at your workplace, or was that a one-off moment of mischief?
