Would You Rather? 04.07.2025

How are you doing, dear GrayViners? đź’• I hope you're enjoying a lovely afternoon!

I enjoy reading your answers to our thought-provoking questions, so here’s another one for you to ponder: Would you rather have the ability to move things with your mind or the power to read minds?

Imagine getting the TV remote or a refill without ever getting up from the couch while binge-watching your favorite shows. But then again, knowing what others are thinking could come in handy too! What would you choose?

Share your answer in the comments below!

Definitely move things with my mind! I could do my house work without getting up. And it would be a lot of fun to use my abilities on strangers in restaurants by moving their glasses and such. Plus suppose somebody is thinking in their mind look fat or really old. Don’t want my. Feelings hurt.

After much thought I would rather be able to move things with my mind.
I’m afraid of being able to read minds. If a car goes into the water during the flooding we are experiencing in Louisville Kentucky right now I could pull it out with my mind. You hope someone would be near by to help also but you never know…to read minds could be a good thing now and then but I can’t trust myself to not take it personally or would misinterpret the thoughts and situation and make stuff worse.
Moving things…perhaps I would not need to be on site to help?
This isn’t written very well but my thoughts just kept shooting all over the place

I would pick move things with my mind.
I wouldn't want to know what everyone is thinking. Going out in public would be terrible

I would rather move things with my mind as I am not as strong as I once was. What people think is none of my business.

I would rather be able to move things, such as the remote control when I accidentally leave it all the way across the room. I wouldn't want to read minds, the inside of my head is scary enough, I don't want to be in anyone else's....lol

I would want to read minds but it would have to be a game...first I would guess what a person was thinking and then I'd get the real skinny. I sort of do this now at election times...I watch commercials and interviews with no sound and watch to see if the eyes and mouths match. Then I add sound to see if the words themselves match. It's an interesting way to view news and also ferret out the truth of it. Yes, people fascinate me.

Housework without leaving the couch? Now that’s using your powers wisely, @valyowell ! And that's a fair point—who needs to read minds when people’s thoughts might just spoil your day?

Thank you for sharing such thoughtful reflections, @Gayle B.. Your heart really shines through. You're right; moving things could help in ways we don’t even think about until the moment comes. And yes, reading minds might sound tempting, but it could easily become overwhelming. Honestly, I am deeply moved reading GrayViners' answers and it's putting me in a reflective mood. Thank you for always shating your thoughts!

I agree, that could be a problem if you won't be able to shut it off. And some thoughts are best left private, right?

That's such a wise answer, @myonpal23. There’s something empowering about still being able to do things even when our bodies start slowing down. And yes—what other people think is not always worth our time and energy.

Yes! The "pain" of getting the remote control from across the room is a universal experience. And so true, our own thoughts are enough to deal with, no need to take on anyone else’s!
