Closet shocker at hotel turns into active police case

What began as a peaceful escape to a picturesque coastal town soon took a dark and disturbing turn.

For guests expecting rest, relaxation, and the calming sound of waves, what unfolded instead has shaken an entire community—and exposed unsettling truths about the places we trust to keep us safe.

The recent discovery at a well-known resort has sparked outrage, disbelief, and a critical question many travelers now find themselves asking: How well do we really know what’s behind the door of our hotel room?

Nadyne Marie Tillman, a 43-year-old mother, was reported missing by her family in late March.

She hadn’t been heard from since Saturday morning, something her loved ones described as extremely out of character.

A desperate search led authorities to the Amoray Dive Resort, where Tillman was last believed to be.

Inside one of the rooms, her body was found stuffed into a crawl space within the air-conditioning closet.

Shockingly, the room had already been rented out again—to new, unsuspecting guests.

The original guest in that room was Dylan Lamb, a 33-year-old local kayak tour guide who is now charged with Tillman’s murder.

When Lamb checked out, hotel staff reportedly found bloodied, soiled sheets and towels inside yard waste bags.

But instead of calling police, they simply threw them out—and continued to rent the room.

It wasn’t until Tillman’s daughter tracked her mother’s phone to the location that the truth began to unfold.

According to authorities, no one at the hotel initially reported the suspicious findings.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the cleaning crew discarded evidence—allowing Tillman’s body to remain hidden for days.

The situation highlights a disturbing failure in standard cleaning procedures and raises a question that affects us all: What really gets checked before we check in?

For those of us in the GrayVine community, especially over 60, this is more than unsettling—it’s personal.

Whether we’re traveling for leisure or to visit loved ones, we expect our hotel rooms to be safe and clean.

This case proves how dangerous it can be when those expectations aren't met.

Authorities believe Tillman was beaten to death.

Dylan Lamb is now facing multiple charges including homicide and kidnapping. He remains in custody without bond.

According to the Attorney General’s office, no other individuals appear to be involved, but the investigation is ongoing.

On our honeymoon 51 years ago in Lake City, Fl we go a room for the night. When we opened the door there was a heavy odor of cigarette smoke, full ashtrays, a ladder and a sawhorse in the room. They said that all the rooms were full, but I had to insist heatedly that it was simply unacceptable that we stay in that room”after we clean it for you.” Finally got a suite for our troubles!

About 25 years ago we were checking into a hotel with our 4 girls on a vacation. One of my girls found slippers and a knife underneath the bed. We informed the front desk and got a free stay that night
