General Discussion Thread 05.15.2025

I (Ally) am back to bring you some warmth (and fun!) this Thursday morning. We’re almost at the finish line, but before we speed into the weekend, here's some food for thought while you chow down on your breakfast (or sip coffee): What’s one thing you’ve done this week that you’re proud of? Tell me about it in the comments! Maybe it was something big like tackling a tough conversation, or maybe it was as simple as getting out of bed on a rough morning. Whatever it is, it counts and deserves a moment of recognition. 💜 Me? I finally mustered up enough energy to run a 10K yesterday! Boy, it was exhilarating, but exhausting. Now, I'm eager to read your entries, GrayViners!

Or, if you have something else you'd like to share—whether it’s a cool fact you just learned, a funny story, or something that’s been bothering you—feel free to comment them down, too! This General Discussion Thread is created just for you, so feel free to engage with your fellow members!

Now, what's on YOUR mind today?

My husband passed away in March, and I have needed to clear out his clothes and other things. I have been putting it off, as it was just another step that showed he is gone. I found an organization that is for Vietnam veterans that comes to your home for a pickup. I know that since he was a Vietnam veteran and proud of his service that he would be pleased with my choice.

I unclogged the leader that goes from the roof to the second floor of the house. This was a task as for two days before doing this I was suffering with bouts of vertigo. The other thing is that I am scared of heights but climbed out window onto the roof and unclogged the leader than moved down the roof so I could make sure that the gutters for the first story were clean.

Congratulations on the 10k run. I used to run 26 miles a day when I was in high school because I was a cross country runner back then. I received a trophy for running a 100 mile marathon.

God bless you Dock! We both served during Vietnam. We met in the service. We have been married for 52 1/2 years. It’s wonderful that you found a veterans organization to take his clothes so you can perhaps better adjust to your new life without him. I’m sorry for your loss. Truly. ✝️🫡🇺🇸
If I am out of line, please forgive me.

Thank you so much for sharing something so deeply personal @Dock Princess . That must have been an incredibly emotional step to take, and it’s clear how much love and thought went into your decision. Choosing an organization that honors his service is such a beautiful way to let go while still holding on. I’m sure he would be very proud of you. ❤️

Wow — that’s seriously impressive @Hazeleyes ! Tackling something like that is a big deal on its own, but doing it while dealing with vertigo and a fear of heights? You’re incredibly brave and determined. You should be really proud of yourself — that took both courage and grit!
