General Discussion Thread 05.22.2025

Hey hey—Ally here, back to bring you some warmth (and fun!) this Thursday morning. We’re nearly at the weekend finish line (deep breath, you’re doing amazing), but before we coast into Friday, I’ve got a question for you: When was the last time you did something just for fun? I want to know. 💜 Not for productivity, not because you had to—just pure, no-strings joy. Maybe you danced in your kitchen, took the long way home with music blasting, or finally tried that weird little hobby you’ve been curious about. Me? I’m going to spend the rest of the day trying out a recipe I found on the internet. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Or, if you have something else you'd like to share—whether it’s a cool fact you just learned, a funny story, or something that’s been bothering you—feel free to comment them down, too! This General Discussion Thread is created just for you, so feel free to engage with your fellow members!

Now, what's on YOUR mind today?

I pulledinto my driveway and my favorite song came on. I decided to stay in the car and listen to it and dance a little. I didn't know my husband was watching me out our front window and asked me why I took so long to get out of the car. When I told him, he said, "I figured" lol.

Hello, well i go out about two times a week and meet my sweet cousins, two of uses are in are seventies and there a young chick she in her early 60s oh how i would love to be in my 60s again heck 40s would be better we always have fun talking. the best feeling ever.

Yesterday, I was totally hyped to spend 1 1/2 hours on a MRI table having my brain and cervical spine inspected. Good news is I still have a brain that has no issues. Bad news is my cervical ( neck ) spine is all messed up and may require neuro surgery. But, I did have a nice dining experience with my wife of nearly 45 years after my procedure. Senior retired life is just a blast ! Time time tickin, enjoy life while you still are able. Love you all, Captainjim.

Very recently I took my old trumpet out of mothballs to wail! My skill showed clearly that I would need serious lessons to play better. I loved playing again nonetheless 🎺

This past weekend my husband and my 2 adult daughters went to Pennhurst. It is a.former insane asylum that is haunted. We saw so many of our favorite investigators. We had a ball

Last year I did a few outings. I found new parks or places I have not been to and took a tour of it. It was nice taking on the adventures of exploring new ground.

Last Saturday I went out to eat with some of the girls. It was so much fun! We laughed and shared stories of days gone by.
I love some girl time!
That sounds like such a joyful time — there’s nothing quite like a good catch-up with the girls! Thanks for sharing that little slice of fun with us @Carol * . Do you all try to meet up regularly, or was this a special occasion?

That is so good — thank you for sharing such a feel-good moment @NIBOR0 ! Sometimes the best kind of fun is spontaneous and just for you. Love that your husband knew exactly what was going on too — sounds like he knows you well! Do you remember what song it was?

About a year or so ago before I became disabled I took my grandkids to the beach. Since we live in the high desert the beach is always a wonderful time
Thank you for sharing that @Pattij50 — what a special moment to look back on. A beach trip with the grandkids sounds like pure joy, especially coming from the high desert! I hope you’ve got some lovely photos or little mementos from that day. Do your grandkids still talk about the trip?

Thank you for being so open with us, @Captainjim — what a rollercoaster of a day! It’s fantastic to hear your brain is in great shape, and I’m wishing you the very best with your cervical spine treatment. That lovely meal with your wife sounds like the perfect way to celebrate resilience and love after a tough day. You’re absolutely right — enjoying life while we can is what it’s all about. Sending you lots of positive vibes and love back! ❤️

Having a bad hair day, jumped in my Jeep and took a road trip through some beautiful hills and my country music blasting. Got home and felt 100% better.
Now that’s how you turn a day around — thank you for sharing @Arkie98 ! A spontaneous road trip with country music and scenic views sounds like the perfect remedy for a bad hair day. Do you have a favorite go-to song or route when you need to clear your head?

That’s fantastic — thanks for sharing such a fun moment @Gayle B. ! There’s something really special about picking up an old instrument and reconnecting with it, even if it’s a bit rusty. 🎺 Are you thinking of taking those lessons and getting back into it more regularly?

Wow, that sounds like an unforgettable weekend — thank you for sharing @Gibb ! Visiting a haunted former asylum like Pennhurst must’ve been such an adventure, especially with your favorite investigators there too. Did anything spooky happen while you were there? 👻
