Would You Rather? 05.22.2025

Hello GrayViners,

Here’s a fun one for you: Would you rather always be the host or always be the guest? 🏡🍽️🎉

Some folks love pulling out the good dishes, setting the mood, and making sure everyone feels at home. Others prefer showing up with a bottle of wine and enjoying the company without the cleanup.

So tell me—are you the life-of-the-party host, or the laid-back guest who brings the best stories? I’m curious to see where you stand!

Cheers,
Sophia 💖

Although I am tired of doing it I am the one that puts the party’s together. My aunt and I used to share the Holiday get togethers, than she was only doing Christmas and now she does nothing. She complains it is a lot of work. Yeah, okay. It is 3 of them plus my sister helping her out with get together. On the other hand it is just me clean, shop, cook, set table , etc. I do not get to enjoy the Holidays nor do I know what is going on in every one’s life with doing dishes, setting everything out. I do it for my mom as if I did not do it she would not have the rest of the family visiting.

When I was younger I enjoyed Hosting but now I'm in my mid 70's I tire easy, battling with arthritis and just can't do it anymore. Now I just want to be a guest!

Aanymore I would rather stay home with a good book. A lifetime of frozen smiles and empty conversations leaves me cold. I always loved entertaining in the past, loved to cook and enjoyed pleasing friends and family. Times have changed and now survival in retirement takes all my energy!

I have been the host for most of my life, especially family events. I would like to be the guest . I am going to be 77 in July. It is overwhelming sometimes to always be the host.

Guest. Though I prefer small gatherings to large. At large gatherings I tend to grab a drink and hide in a corner. It’s an Aquarius thing. 🤷🏼
