Pleasant day, GrayViners!

It’s July 1—National Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day—and what better way to kick off the month than by celebrating summer’s most imaginative treat?

From neighborhood ice cream trucks to hand-scooped memories at the boardwalk, we all have our favorite flavors. But today’s not just about vanilla and chocolate. It’s about the quirky, the bold, the flavors that make you pause and say, “Wait… that works?”

Think dill pickle, honey lavender, maple bacon, or even balsamic strawberry. Some you may have tasted, others you may have only heard about—or dreamed up yourself!

So, I’d love to know:
What’s the most unusual ice cream flavor you’ve ever triedor dreamed up?

Drop your stories (or your flavor inventions) below. Whether it was a one-time treat or a longtime favorite, we’re all ears—and spoons.

With love,
Sophia 💓

Not black licorice! Was on an outing with a bunch of senior citizens. One chose this one. You could smell it all the way home (2 1/2 hours)!

I worked at Baskin-Robbins a long time ago. When we landed on the moon, they came out with a flavor called green cheese.. It's my favorite ice cream, but I can't find it anymore..

Mine was an oldie but a goodie some years ago. It was pistachio flavored ice cream. I don’t remember where it was being served. I didn’t get out for ice cream very often so mine is pretty boring compared to the other ones.

Vanilla sherbet, which we bought at Rettig's. Strong sweet cooling flavor. We never see it now.
Vanilla sherbet? That’s a new one for me, and from Rettig’s no less. I love hearing about these almost-lost flavors. Thanks for sharing that memory.

Black licorice... that’s an adventure. 😅 Some flavors are definitely best admired from a distance.

Those both sound like full-on dessert experiences. Buttery Southern Pecan Pie is genius. And Chocolate Therapy? Count me in. 🍫

Green cheese! Now that’s a cool throwback. Love that it was tied to the moon landing. They should bring it back just for nostalgia’s sake.
