I had a job interview this week, and the interviewer pointed out that I listed “very quick at mental arithmetic” on my résumé.
He asked, “What’s 19 times 17?”
Without missing a beat, I said, “Thirty-four.”
He blinked. “That’s wrong.”
"But it was very quick," I pointed out.
