Hey, hey, dear GrayViners! Do you have any plans for the weekend? I’ll be off to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and I’ve been looking forward to it all week.

No matter the age, there’s just something that makes birthdays feel special. Gathering together, sharing a meal, and pausing to be thankful for someone’s life is such a gift.

It got me thinking… which milestone birthday stands out most in your memory: 21, 40, 50, 60, or 70? Cast your vote in the poll, peek at your fellow GrayViners’ picks, and share your stories with us in the comments!

My wife arranged a wonderful birthday dinner for me. It was at a favorite restaurant of mine . My family and many friends were invited. I had such a great time and hold on to the great memories that were made at that party.

21 which I went from 20 - 22. I was fixed up on a blind date. It was pretty nice (double date with my twin and her boyfriend) went to a fancy Italian restaurant (Mama Leon’s) in the city, Empires state building, museum of natural history and horse and buggy ride. And we had to go to the guys workplace . He had no sense of humor and constant giving facts. Museum I said look at cut bear. He had to state all facts about the panda bear. UGH

the last one I had ,21st. Haven't had one since, from very little on we celebrated both with my grandmother, then when I turned 8 my sister was born around same dates and we made it a trio. But, . on my 21st ,a brother threw the cake my husband brought to go on table and said it wasnt my birthday. so we would have special dinner each year after that and celebrate by ourselfs.

Me and my husband were born on the same exact day as each other. He is one year older. The year we turned 70/71 hit me like a ton of bricks. It was the first time I thought I looked and felt old! Before Covid-19 hit we could eat 3 meals for free at different places in Louisville Kentucky. We walked out having to only leaving a tip! Cool beans. We even pulled in at Dairy Queen for a free sundae. People doubted us and had to show our drivers licenses as proof that it was both of our birthdays. It hasn’t happened since the pandemic. Too bad for us! 🤭

That sounds so special, @Cindy k — nothing better than good food, family, and friends all together to celebrate you. Those kinds of dinners really do stick in your memory forever. If I may ask, what's your favorite restaurant? I'm curious!

A blind date, Italian dinner, sightseeing, and a carriage ride — sounds like something out of a movie. Even if your date wasn’t the most fun, it’s a birthday story to remember indeed @Hazeleyes! And wow, I didn't know you have a twin! Could people tell you apart?

Oh my, that 21st sounds tough, @grannynanny — I’m so sorry your cake moment got spoiled. It's nice how you and your husband turned it around though, making your own little tradition every year afterward. That’s really sweet.

Oh, yeah! I remember you shared it with us before, that you have the same birthday as your husband! The way you celebrated is, I must say, pretty cool. I wish you plenty more birthdays to celebrate with your husband!

We are not identical and total different. She is loud, short brown hair, and always chunky but now she is heavy.
I am quiet, long blond hair and slim. Still slim with love handles and a small pouch.
