General Discussion Thread 10.03.2025

I hope your week’s been treating you kindly, dear GrayViners!

Last night I discovered something funny—the little toy figure on my nightstand glows in the dark. The catch? I’ve had it for a year and never noticed, because I always sleep with a light on. Blame one very spooky movie that scarred me years ago! Curious which one?)

Anyway, it made me wonder: do you keep a nightlight glowing, or do you prefer complete darkness? I’d love to know which side you’re on! Are you team nightlight or team dark?

I have ionizing air purifiers in each room (3 in the living room) that have a green LED on their tops that cast a nice glow, and also have small night lights in the bathroom and kitchen. No more stubbed toes or mashed shoulders and arms from running into door jambs groggy and in the dark!!

As a child , I was always afraid of the dark. My parents wouldn't allow a night light, as a married adult. I never used one, but now, as an older adult. I do have a night light in the bathroom , for safety reasons. but appliances, now a days also have small glowing lights.

I use to use a nightlight. But I broke both my ankles and ended up 5 weeks in a nursing home. They always had a bright light on the room and I couldn't stand it. Now I sleep in complete darkness and I love it.

I sleep with the stars on my ceiling, they look so beautiful they glow and move slow

Your glow-in-the-dark story reminded me of the time I bought bandaids for my young son. At some point I cut my own hand, and used one of his bandaids to treat the cut. I did not know they were glow-in-the-dark. Rolling over in bed that night, I caught a glimpse of that glowing bandaid, and I screamed out loud!

I have a vaporizer and an air filter that I use in our bedroom. They put off a soft light which helps for those middle of the night trips to the bathroom.

I must have light and noise. Which is why I leave my tv on all night!

I like a nightlight, because it is sooooo dark in my room without it. I unplug it during the day, though, to save a little on electricity.

I have always been afraid of the dark but wasn’t allowed to have a nightlight. One of the first things I bought myself when I left home was a nightlight. My husband cannot sleep with any light in the bedroom. We have blackout curtains. So much for the one I bought years ago!

Our bedroom is completely dark but I have a night light in the bathroom
