General Discussion Thread 10.13.2025

There’s something about the idea of exploration that stirs the heart, isn’t there? Maybe it’s the thought of adventure, of going somewhere new, or of rediscovering the simple joy of wonder. We might not be setting off in wooden ships like in the old days, but there’s still a part of us that dreams about where we’d go if we could just follow the horizon.

So here’s the question: If you could set sail and explore anywhere in the world—no maps, no GPS—where would you go? Would you drift toward warm, turquoise waters? Hunt for hidden gems in a little coastal town? Or chase sunsets somewhere you’ve only seen in pictures?

As for me, I’d make my way toward New York City—not for treasure, but for the magic of Broadway. I’d love to spend days watching musicals and soaking in the city’s energy before sailing home with songs still playing in my head.

Now it’s your turn—where would your voyage take you?

Share your dream destination in the forum and let’s see what kind of adventures we’d all set out on!

Cheers!

I‘d love to see Sweden, where my father’s parents immigrated from. Just always wanted to know more about Sweden.

New Zealand. If memory serves me right they were the only continent to act most responsibly when we all learned about Covid-19. They had ZERO cases of it. They followed all of the rules and stayed healthy. That sounds like a good place to visit, no matter how long we could stay.
My second choice would be to Hungary. My mom was 100% Hungarian, We would enjoy seeing where her family was from and how they lived.

Thanks so much for sharing that @Arkie ! Tahiti and Belize both sound like dream destinations — sunshine, turquoise waters, and plenty of island charm. 🌴 Do you enjoy spending time in the water when you travel, like snorkelling or swimming, or are you more of a beachside relaxer with a good book?

That’s such a lovely choice — thank you for sharing @Capaten1 ! Visiting Sweden to connect with your family roots sounds incredibly meaningful. Would you want to visit the town your grandparents came from, or explore the country more broadly to take in its scenery and culture?

Vikings and such--the North Sea
Thanks for sharing @lucasandme ! The North Sea would be such an adventurous place to explore — rugged coastlines, ancient history, and those fascinating Viking stories. ⚓ Do you enjoy learning about history and legends when you travel, or would you be more drawn to the natural beauty of the area?

Thank you for sharing @Gayle B. — what a wonderful pair of choices! 🌏 New Zealand’s commitment to health and community during that time was truly inspiring, and it’s such a breathtakingly beautiful place too. And how special it would be to visit Hungary and trace your family’s roots — that kind of trip stays in the heart forever. Both sound unforgettable in very different ways — would you choose to explore Hungary first for its family connection, or New Zealand for its scenery and sense of peace?

I would go to Germany , Poland and Lithuania where my grandparents migrated from.
Thank you for sharing @Hazeleyes ! Visiting Germany, Poland, and Lithuania to explore your grandparents’ roots sounds like such a meaningful journey. It must be amazing to think about walking the same streets your family once did. Would you want to visit specific towns connected to them, or take time to explore the cultures and traditions of each country along the way?

Australia or Scotland
Thanks for sharing @dkleslie52 ! Both Australia and Scotland have such unique charms — the warm beaches and wildlife of Australia, and the misty hills and castles of Scotland. 🌏🏰 If you had to pick one to explore first, would you go for the sunshine and coastlines or the history and highlands?

If I had only one choice, I’d choose New Zealand for what you mentioned. That would be for the fantastic scenery and a sense of peace. I could use a huge dose of that on any given day. Thanks for your responose. That was kind of you!

Scotland, I have scottish blood and have always been drawn to it. I have always loved that that awesome accent. Then the late Steve Irwin, "the Crocodile Hunter " got my curiosity up about Australia.
