“Absolutely gutted”: Uber Eats mix-up sends order 9,600 miles away to another country

We live in an era where convenience is king—groceries arrive with a swipe, dinner can be ordered in seconds, and your favorite comfort foods are just a few taps away.

But even the smoothest apps can lead to unexpected chaos, as one hungry expat discovered the hard way.

This isn’t just a delivery gone wrong—it’s a $65 takeout odyssey that spanned continents, sparked viral fame, and left thousands of viewers in stitches.

And yes, it could happen to you.

Oisin Lenehan, a 29-year-old from Belfast, had been living in Melbourne, Australia for six years.

He was crashing with friends Kyle and Sarah while searching for a new place to live.

On what was supposed to be a low-key evening of drinks and laughs, Oisin decided to be a good guest and order dinner for the group.

He opened the Uber Eats app, browsed for local options, and placed a $65 order.

The menu? BBQ chicken pizzas, garlic bread, and a generous portion of chips.

Everything seemed perfect—until he checked the confirmation.

That’s when his heart sank.

Instead of being sent to his friends’ house in Melbourne, the entire order was headed to… Dublin, Ireland.

That’s right—his Uber Eats meal was en route to a location he’d used years ago during a night out in Ireland.

Roughly 9,600 miles away.

Oisin was stunned.

“I was absolutely gutted,” he told reporters.

Not just because the food was lost, but because he and his friends were starving.

Now, they’d have to start the entire dinner discussion all over again.

Luckily, Kyle and Sarah didn’t let the mishap ruin the night—they documented it.

As Oisin called Uber Eats customer service to explain the situation, his friends recorded the entire moment.

The clip, uploaded to TikTok, shows Oisin calmly and politely asking to cancel the order, saying he mistakenly left an old address in the system.

His friends, meanwhile, can be heard laughing uncontrollably in the background.

The internet loved it.

The video exploded, earning more than 500,000 views and turning Oisin into an unexpected viral sensation.

Despite the international mix-up, Uber Eats came through.

They refunded Oisin the full $65 and canceled the delivery to the address in Dublin.

But that wasn’t the end of the story.

As the video made the rounds online, people began reaching out.

Some joked that he could send dinner to their house next time.

“I love that people found it funny,” said Oisin, who said it’s “typical” for him to get into ridiculous situations.

“These incidents happen to me all the time, and I didn’t realize there was an audience for it,” he said.
