“Jeopardy!” fans outraged: This episode didn’t air on TV–Here’s what happened!

The world of game shows is often a comforting constant in our lives, a place where knowledge is king and the quick-witted reign supreme.

But when an episode of the beloved trivia show Jeopardy! fails to air as scheduled, fans are left feeling more than just a little disappointed—they're downright furious. Why didn’t it air?

Such was the case when viewers across the country were deprived of witnessing Drew Goins, a journalist from Honolulu, Hawaii, continue his winning streak in what was promised to be a thrilling Champions Wildcard semifinal.

Jeopardy! didn’t provide any disclaimer that the show might not air on January 20 due to the inauguration, so many people believed that the show would continue as promised.

However, the presidential inauguration continued to play in place of today’s episode in most parts of the country, thus leaving many fans in the dark about Drew's latest victory.

The frustration was palpable on social media, with viewers expressing their dismay at missing out on the action.

One viewer lamented, “Can’t watch on my local ABC affiliate due to the inauguration, which really sucks, cause Drew is my favorite. :(

Others echoed the sentiment, feeling robbed of their daily escape from the political sphere. Another suggested, “Same. Total bummer. I really wish on national news pre-emption days that the Jeopardy Youtube channel would put up entire episodes.”

Despite the broadcast hiccup, Drew Goins' performance was nothing short of stellar.

Facing off against Joey DeSena, a development engineer from Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jen Feldman, a high school teacher from Brooklyn, New York, Drew quickly established his dominance.

By the first commercial break, he had already secured six correct answers and amassed $4,200, leaving his competitors trailing with $1,400 and $0, respectively.

As the game progressed, Drew's lead only grew. The categories for the second round were revealed by host Ken Jennings, and they included “French Geography,” “18th Century Writing,” and “Broadway,” among others.

Jen Feldman managed to close the gap momentarily by nailing the second Daily Double and adding $5,000 to her score. However, Drew was not to be outdone, finding the third Daily Double and boosting his total with an additional $4,000.

By the end of the game, Drew had racked up an impressive 29 correct responses, with only two incorrect buzzes. Jen Feldman held her own with 10 accurate answers and no mistakes, while Joey DeSena had a mix of 12 right responses and 3 incorrect guesses.

The final scores saw Drew at the top with $26,800, Jen with $10,000, and Joey with $9,811.

The camaraderie among the contestants was evident, even in the face of competition.

Joey, knowing he was too far behind to win, used his Final Jeopardy! response to cheer on Drew with a playful message. Drew reciprocated the affection in his own final answer, thanking both Jen and Joey.
