$59 round-trips? This airline is rolling out four new flights for 2025

The future of air travel may look a little different—and a lot more affordable.

A fresh wave of flight deals is promising travelers more options without the sticker shock.

If long layovers and high fares have grounded your plans, this new shift might change your itinerary.

One airline’s latest move is already turning heads and redefining what it means to fly on a budget.

Spirit Airlines is making headlines again—and this time, it’s for launching four new nonstop routes in 2025 that are as affordable as they are convenient.

Set to connect Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport with major destinations including Newark, Fort Lauderdale, Nashville, and Detroit, Spirit’s new routes come with one-way fares starting at just $59.

The airline, long known for its ultra-low-cost model, is shaking up the market with competitive pricing that often undercuts legacy carriers like Delta.

For example, starting August 14, travelers can fly nonstop to Newark, New Jersey, for as low as $60—a significant drop from Delta’s usual fare of $94.

And it doesn’t stop there.

Here’s how Spirit’s new fares stack up:
  • Newark, NJ – Daily service starts August 14. One-way fare: $60 vs. Delta’s $94.
  • Fort Lauderdale, FL – Four flights per week begin October 9. One-way fare: $79 vs. Delta’s $115.
  • Nashville, TN – Three flights per week also launching October 9. One-way fare: $59 vs. Delta’s $116.
  • Detroit, MI – Twice-weekly service starts October 10. One-way fare: $79 vs. Delta’s $119.
While Spirit’s schedule may be lighter than Delta’s daily offerings, the price difference is significant—especially for travelers seeking quick, no-frills getaways.

Alongside Spirit’s announcement, the US Department of Transportation has rolled out a new passenger protection rule.

Airlines are now required to automatically issue cash refunds for canceled or significantly delayed flights—defined as over 3 hours domestically or 6 hours internationally.

Credit card refunds must be processed within 7 business days, and other methods within 20 calendar days.

It’s a small but powerful shift toward transparency and accountability in air travel.

Savannah now becomes Spirit’s second market in Georgia, following Atlanta, where the airline has operated since 2006.

According to John Kirby, Spirit’s Vice President of Network Planning, the airline is excited to offer Savannah travelers more affordable ways to fly, emphasizing the value of new options at unbeatable prices.

With Savannah’s charm as a top destination for both vacationers and business travelers, the city’s airport
is quickly becoming a key player in Spirit’s expansion.
