A Prayer For Henry
During Sunday service, the preacher said, “If anyone needs a little extra prayer today, come on up!”
Henry, one of the regulars, shuffled up to the front.
“What can we pray for today, Henry?” the preacher asked kindly.
“Well, Pastor,” Henry said, “I could use some help with my hearing.”
The preacher placed one hand on Henry’s ear, the other on his head, and launched into a passionate prayer while the whole congregation joined in.
After a few minutes, the preacher stepped back and asked, “So Henry, how’s your hearing now?”
Henry smiled and said, “Oh, I don’t know yet—it’s not ’til next Thursday down at the courthouse!”
