An Intricate Painting

Art can be found in unexpected places. A plate of food, graffiti on the wall, a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet... yes, you read that last part correctly! Did you know you can make art on an Excel spreadsheet?

Tatsuo Horiuchi is a Japanese artist who became famous for creating intricate landscape paintings using Microsoft Excel. Unlike most digital artists who rely on software like Photoshop or Illustrator, Horiuchi uses Excel’s simple shape and fill tools to craft breathtaking scenes of mountains, cherry blossoms, forests, and traditional Japanese landscapes. He uses simple shapes, gradients, and fills to mimic traditional Japanese paintings, achieving remarkable depth and detail.
