An Olympic Sport
The Tug of War was an official Olympic event from 1900 to 1920. It was part of the Summer Games, with teams of eight athletes competing in a test of strength and teamwork. The event was popular in the early years of the modern Olympics but was eventually dropped after the 1920 Games, most likely due to changes in the structure and focus of the competitions. But during its time in the Olympics, the event featured both men's and mixed-gender teams, and countries like Great Britain, Sweden, and the United States were dominant in the sport.
