Are You A Peanut Butter Fan?
Are you a peanut butter fan—PB&J, peanut butter cookies, or maybe just a spoon straight from the jar? However you like it, here are some fun tidbits you might not know.
For starters, it takes about 540 peanuts to make a 12-ounce jar of peanut butter. And to keep the label honest, US law requires that anything called “peanut butter” be at least 90% peanuts.
Peanuts even have presidential ties—two peanut farmers, Thomas Jefferson of Virginia and Jimmy Carter of Georgia, made it all the way to the White House!
And here’s a fun geography twist: there are actually six towns in the US named Peanut:
Peanut, California
Lower Peanut, Pennsylvania
Upper Peanut, Pennsylvania
Peanut, Pennsylvania
Peanut, Tennessee
Peanut, West Virginia
Now I’m curious—what’s your favorite way to eat peanut butter?
