Are you eligible for a part of UnitedHealthcare's $2.5M settlement? Find out how to claim your share now!

UnitedHealthcare, a household name in health insurance, has recently agreed to a substantial $2.5 million settlement.

This decision comes in the wake of allegations that the company breached the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by making unauthorized telemarketing calls. If you've been on the receiving end of these calls, you might be entitled to a piece of the settlement pie.

The TCPA is a federal law designed to safeguard consumer privacy by restricting telemarketing communications.

According to the lawsuit, UnitedHealthcare allegedly used prerecorded messages to make calls without the recipients' consent—a clear violation of this law.

This settlement is significant, not just for the size of the payout, but because it affects over 12,000 individuals.

If you're among those who received such calls from UnitedHealthcare's specific teams between January 9, 2015, and January 9, 2019, and were not a member or authorized third party, you could be eligible for compensation.

These calls came from the Medicare and retirement non-licensed retention team, community and state national retention team, or Medicare and retirement collections team.

Eligibility for this settlement is quite specific. It includes individuals who received one or more unauthorized prerecorded calls from the aforementioned UnitedHealthcare teams within the specified four-year period.

If you fall into this category, you should have received a settlement notice via email or mail, complete with instructions on how to file a claim.

The estimated payout ranges from $350 to $1,000 per individual, but the final amount will depend on the total number of claims filed.

If you're eligible, claiming your share of the settlement is straightforward.

The settlement notice you received should include a unique login code and password, allowing you to file your claim online.

Alternatively, you can download a PDF claim form to print and mail in. Remember, the deadline for submitting claims is April 15, 2025, so mark your calendars.

It's important to note that if you're eligible for a settlement payment but choose not to act, you won't receive any compensation. In other words, you need to file a claim to benefit from the settlement.

The final approval for the settlement is scheduled for a court decision on June 20, 2025. Until then, eligible individuals have the opportunity to file their claims and potentially receive compensation.

This settlement comes on the heels of a massive data breach at UnitedHealth Group, which affected approximately 190 million customers.

The breach, which targeted the UnitedHealth-owned Change Healthcare, exposed sensitive information, including customer IDs, bank records, and health data. Those affected by the breach have been contacted, and further details will be disclosed in due course.
