National Taco Day is back, and this year it’s arriving with more deals, more flavor, and a few surprises.
For those who enjoy an occasional taco night—or a big family spread—there’s plenty to look forward to.
Taco Bell is leading the celebration, rolling out giveaways, discounts, and even a sweet treat you may not expect.
The official date has shifted, giving the occasion a new home on the calendar.
And with offers running all day, there are several ways to take part in the fun.

A new taco tradition
National Taco Day was once celebrated on October 4, but things changed after a long-running trademark battle.
Taco John’s agreed to drop its claim to the phrase “Taco Tuesday,” and the National Day Calendar moved the holiday to the first Tuesday in October.
That means this year’s celebration falls on Tuesday, October 7—making it perfectly aligned with Taco Tuesday.
Taco Bell is embracing the new setup with a full schedule of deals and activities.

A sweet surprise
The “Tacolate” is making a return, thanks to Taco Bell’s collaboration with Portland-based Salt & Straw ice cream.
This unusual dessert features a waffle cone taco shell filled with cinnamon ancho chili ice cream, coated in chocolate, and topped with toasted brown rice.
It comes with two sauce packets—Mango Jalapeño and Wildberry Cinnamon—for an extra kick.
Available beginning Friday, October 3, the Tacolate can be found in Salt & Straw shops and ordered for nationwide shipping in packs of six.
