Brewster The Overachiever
A farmer needed a rooster for his chickens, and another man just happened to have one for sale.
“This is Brewster,” the man said. “He’ll take great care of your chickens… but fair warning, he has a lot of energy. He’ll chase anything that moves.”
The farmer bought Brewster and took him home. Sure enough, Brewster sprinted through the henhouse, then dashed around the whole farm—chasing sheep, goats, the barn cat, even the farmer’s boots! After a couple of days of nonstop chaos, the farmer warned him, “Brewster, you’ve got to slow down or you’ll wear yourself out!”
But Brewster kept running wild all week. One morning, the farmer stepped outside and saw Brewster lying dramatically in the yard, not moving at all. Vultures were already circling overhead.
The farmer threw up his hands. “I told you this would happen if you didn’t calm down!”
Brewster opened one eye and whispered, “Shh… quiet. They’re about to land.”
