Ingredients:
30 slices white bread, lightly toasted
2 tablespoons butter
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 stalks celery, finely chopped
2 cups chicken broth
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons water (optional)
2 teaspoons rubbed sage
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and ground black pepper to taste

Directions:
  1. Spread the toasted bread slices on baking sheets and let sit out at room temperature for about 24 hours until they’re hard.
  2. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  3. Crush the dried bread slices into crumbs using a rolling pin and transfer to a large bowl.
  4. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the chopped onion and celery, cooking until softened (5-7 minutes), then remove from heat and drain.
  5. Add the chicken broth and beaten eggs to the bread crumbs, mixing until combined and moist (but not mushy). Add water if needed for the right consistency. Stir in the cooked onion and celery, sage, garlic powder, and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Press the stuffing mixture into the prepared baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, until the top is brown and crisp.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
