He dreamed of building entire homes, furniture and all, out of poured concrete—durable, fireproof, and affordable for working families. My first home that I remember, at 3 years old, in about 1960, was a 3 bedroom, 1 bath, LR, DR playroom, 2 story house with a basement and an enclosed front porch with a swing set in the yard. I remember in the winter Dad would push any snow into the corner & I would take a sled to the top & slide down. Fast-Forward to 1984. I took my son to look at the house, now condemned. We went in, but not to far in as the floor was creaking, and it wasn't safe. A few year later it was gone. Looking at the empty lot, I couldn't believe there was a house & swing set there years ago. I took old photos back to that lot and compared things as I KNEW they must have made the lot smaller by the neighbors moving their fences, but they had not. I measured the lot and it was the same size as my 3 car, extra deep garage. Things change, don't they?
