Ingredients:
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 4 Golden Delicious apples, sliced (add more if needed)
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ½ cup white sugar
- ½ cup cold water
- 1½ tablespoons cornstarch
Directions:
- In a deep skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced apples, cinnamon, and sugar. Stir until the apples are well coated.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Cover and cook until the apples are very tender, about 20 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cold water and cornstarch until smooth.
- Stir the cornstarch mixture into the apples and return to a simmer. Cook for another 2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and serve warm — delicious on their own or alongside breakfast favorites.
