Discover the Secret Workout Routine a 60-Year-Old Swears By for the Best Shape of Their Life!

As we age, it's common to believe that our best days of physical fitness are behind us. But Allie Cook, a vibrant 60-year-old from Louisiana, is living proof that age is just a number when it comes to health and fitness.

Her journey to becoming leaner, fitter, and stronger is not just inspiring; it's a testament to the power of perseverance and the positive impact of regular exercise on our overall well-being.

“I have also been bringing my total health numbers down, such as my cholesterol, blood pressure and thyroid levels, which are huge accomplishments for someone at my age,” claims Allie. “Also, exercise has been contributing to better mental health and a clearer mind, which is another huge accomplishment.”

Allie's story is particularly remarkable considering the challenges she's faced. After breaking her right arm in 2003, she underwent 13 surgeries and three elbow replacements, with the threat of amputation looming over her.

Despite these hurdles, Allie's determination to strengthen her arm led her to embark on a fitness journey that would transform her life.

Joining Planet Fitness was a pivotal moment for Allie. With the guidance of thoughtful trainers like Trey and Tommy Moore, she was able to tailor her workouts to slowly regain strength without compromising her arm's integrity.

According to Allie, “...Trey, was very thoughtful about our workouts and how I should slowly regain the strength in my arm. Allie adds that three years post-surgery, her doctor was astounded by the muscle she had built and the improved condition of her arm.

For those in their golden years, Allie's experience is a shining example of how it's never too late to start prioritizing your health. Her workout routine, which she swears by for maintaining her best shape, is a balanced mix of cardio, strength training, core exercises, and walking.

Cardio is a cornerstone of Allie's fitness regimen. She frequents the gym four to five days a week, dedicating around three hours each day to her workouts. She also regularly goes to the gym with women who are also in their senior years.

One of her favorite workout classes is the 30 Minute Circuit where “we do a little bit of everything and can hit on all the different moves and body parts, which makes for an incredibly productive workout,” she says.

Classes like the PF360 Burn offer a dynamic way to get the heart pumping, with activities ranging from elliptical sessions to battle rope exercises for a full-body burn.

Strength training is another key component. Allie's enthusiasm for classes focused on the lower and upper body has not only increased her flexibility but also sculpted her legs, with her calves being a particular point of pride. She enjoys a variety of strength moves, with curls and squats being among her favorites.

Core workouts, once a source of dread for Allie, have become a beloved part of her routine. She's particularly fond of planking, a simple yet effective exercise that requires nothing more than your body and a floor. Allie's approach to planking emphasizes proper form and breathing, ensuring that she maintains a straight line from head to heels while engaging her core muscles.

Walking is also integral to Allie's daily routine. Before hitting the gym, she takes her 'fur babies' on a morning stroll for an hour, combining the joy of pet companionship with the benefits of gentle, consistent exercise.
