Do You Remember The Name Of This Playful Character?​

Bright yellow, wide-mouthed, and always hungry—this playful character from the late 1970s sat in the middle of the table, spinning around with a goofy mask-like face. The challenge? Flip little plastic chips into his moving mouth before it snapped shut again. You probably remember the sing-songy jingle from the TV commercial. Do you remember what it’s called?

That’s right—it’s Mr. Mouth, the Tomy game that first hit shelves in 1976. Powered by batteries, his motorized head opened and closed as he spun, daring kids (and parents!) to test their aim. For many families, it became a rainy-day staple, complete with the clinking of plastic chips and a lot of good-natured competition. Did you play Mr. Mouth at the kitchen table? We didn’t have a fancy toy like this. We used a small cup in the middle of the kitchen table. We tried to get our tiddledywinks ( kinda the size of poker chips ), would take one and try to flip the one on the table into the cup! A bunch of hours went by while playing this game.
