Do You Remember Watching These Heroes In Action?

White coats, flashing red lights, and a call that could come at any second—this ’70s favorite brought the rush of the ER and the thrill of the rescue right into our living rooms. Part drama, part adrenaline, it was must-see TV for families across America. Do you remember watching these heroes in action?

That’s right—this is Emergency! the hit 1970s TV series that followed the lives of paramedics Johnny Gage and Roy DeSoto, along with the dedicated staff at Rampart General Hospital. Airing from 1972 to 1979, it was one of the first shows to spotlight paramedics as heroes, inspiring countless viewers (and even some future first responders). Did you tune in each week—or maybe know someone who became a medic because of it? Share your memories in the comments!

We were married in 1972 while we both were serving in the Air Force. My husband was a combat medic during the Viet Nam era. We tried to never miss an episode. He would share the things in the show that were right on and things that didn’t quite hold true. I wish I could remember individual episodes but that’s not my forte. Unfortunately.
