Dogs Smell Time

Experts say that dogs use smell to “tell time.” They can pick up on the strength of different scents—fresher odors are stronger, while older ones become weaker. This means that dogs could sense how long their humans have been away based on the lingering scent around them.

And that’s not all! A dog’s olfactory abilities allow them to get a glimpse of the past and take a peek into the future. They could sniff what you’ve been up to during the day, whether you’ve played with other dogs or enjoyed a tasty lunch. And they could get a whiff of what’s coming, like when service dogs can detect seizures or changes in blood sugar. Isn’t that fascinating? Share your thoughts in the comments below! You could also post a fun fact here!
