Drive-In Theatre Calendar

Do you remember the magic of drive-in theatres? The warm hum of summer, windows rolled down, a scratchy speaker hanging on the car door, and the smell of buttered popcorn drifting through the evening air. You didn’t scroll to find a film—you circled it in the paper, packed snacks in Tupperware, and hoped your windshield stayed clear.

What movies did you watch at your local drive-in? Share your stories in the comments!

You can also post other nostalgic memories in the forum!

We are fortunate to still have a drive-in close to us. We go there a few times in the summer. Don't remember what movie it was but on June 3, we will be celebrating our 30th anniversary.

Saw Soylent Green - While the family was on vacation. A child back then. My sister ended up breaking her wrist going down the slide in the playground area before the movie started. Got ice from concession stand to put on it. Following day had to find a doctor to have her arm set and put in a cast.

That must’ve been such a whirlwind night as a kid… the excitement of the drive-in, then suddenly dealing with your sister’s injury. What a vivid memory—thank you for sharing it, @Hazeleyes !

The last movie I saw at our local Drive In was "Independence Day" with Will Smith. I think by the end of the 90's, it had closed down. The next closest one had shut down earlier, but there is still one more still hanging on, about 20-30 minutes away.
