Jackie Chan’s parents had an incredible and unexpected past, and their meeting was straight out of a movie.
His father, Charles Chan, was a Chinese Nationalist agent who once worked as a spy. His mother, Lee-Lee Chan, was an opium smuggler and black market dealer who was arrested by none other than Charles himself. But instead of turning her in, he fell in love with her.
They later fled to Hong Kong, assumed new identities, and started a new life—eventually giving birth to the future martial arts legend, Jackie Chan. He didn’t learn the full truth about their past until he was well into adulthood.
