Ford’s massive recall on F-Series trucks—is your vehicle affected?

Ford has just issued a major recall affecting thousands of trucks. If you drive a Ford F-Series, this news could impact you.

Don’t miss out on what you need to know—your truck might be on the list!

Ford has initiated a sweeping recall of nearly 300,000 diesel-engine trucks, and it's possible that your vehicle could be on the list.

The recall, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), centers around a defective fuel pump that could lead to a sudden loss of power, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

The issue stems from biodiesel deposits that may accumulate on the pump drivetrain roller components, potentially causing the high-pressure fuel pump to fail.

For those behind the wheel, the warning signs of this defect could include an extended crank while starting the engine, an illuminated Check Engine Light (CEL), unusual noises, and a noticeable reduction in engine power.

These symptoms not only signal a compromised driving experience but also a potential safety hazard.

The recall specifically targets the following Ford truck models:
  • 2020-2022 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600
  • 2021-2022 Ford F-650, F-750
If you own one of these models, it's crucial to take note of this recall and the steps Ford is taking to address the issue.

Fortunately, as of the announcement, Ford has not been made aware of any accidents, injuries, or fires directly linked to the fuel pump problem.

The automaker is taking proactive measures to rectify the situation by offering a free update of the powertrain control module software at Ford dealerships.

Owners of the affected vehicles can expect to receive notification letters by mail starting on January 13, 2025.

If you're concerned about your truck or want more information, you can reach out to Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, referencing recall number 24S78.

Additionally, the NHTSA provides a safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 and further details on their website at www.nhtsa.gov, with the recall identified as number 24V-957.

It's worth noting that the F-Series truck recall is just one of four recalls Ford issued on the same day. Other recalls include:
  • Over 20,000 compact SUVs (2020-2024 Ford Escape and 2021-2024 Lincoln Corsair) due to battery failure concerns.
  • Nearly 50,000 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus vehicles for faulty power windows that may not detect obstructions properly.
  • More than 30,000 2019 Flex, Fiesta, and 2019 Lincoln MKT cars because of a rear-view camera issue that could display a blank, distorted, or inverted image while reversing.
Each of these recalls addresses different safety concerns, and Ford is committed to notifying owners and providing the necessary fixes.
