Hello, dear GrayViners! 👋

Can you believe it’s February already? January flew by for me—I attended my best friend's wedding, caught up with friends who were home for the holidays, got new tattoos, and watched a few movies. Whew, it felt like the days just slipped through my fingers!

What about you? Did the month drag on, or did it zoom by in a blur? Share what you’ve been up to in the comments! No matter how January treated you, I sincerely hope you’re doing well and feeling happy.

Have something else on your mind? Whether it’s a new hobby, a show you’re watching, an interesting fact you discovered, or even a frustration you need to vent—drop it in the comments! Need advice? Feel free to ask. This space is here for you and your fellow GrayViners. 💕

Now, don’t be shy—tell us what's on your mind!

Hello and thank you for welcoming me to the group!
I am a retired teacher(2 years now :) ) and my husband retired last month. We both are enjoying the fee time. However, I am very frustrated with Social Security. I applied for mine at the end of October and my husband beginning of November. I check the website daily and we are stuck on step 2, a representative is reviewing our application! I don't understand why it should take this long. Wondering if anyone else has been through?

It flew by for me too. I've been busy since my bad fall last Tuesday. I've been doing my best to do my crocheting. I'm making blankets for the homeless population around here. Putting puzzles together and taking care of my 4 legged baby Buddy.
I think that about sums it up.

Although we can’t get out to do much January dragged on. Me and my husband were born on the same day in February so we have fun with our special day. Before Covid a few restaurants gave you a free meal on your birthday. We went to different places for breakfast lunch and dinner, leaving a tip but not having to pay anything. We also got a sundae for dessert at a 4th place! Cool beans. February is a great month! ✝️

I'm go glad it's over! My dryer broke, and my dog and I got sick. I also had a tooth break! We were hit with a snowstorm and I couldn't get a dryer repairman, or to a doctor or dentist or to get meds because everything was closed down. New Orleans and area don't have snow plows or anything so everything closed down for a week.

In December my psychiatric service dog was choked to death by a vet Tech. In January my only child tried to commit suicide.
Here"s to a better February.

Welcome to the group, and thank you for sharing your experience! It’s great that you and your husband are enjoying your free time, but I completely understand your frustration with the Social Security process. It can definitely be stressful when things seem to stall. Hopefully, things will move along soon!

I hope you're healing well from your fall, Barbara! It sounds like you’ve been keeping yourself busy despite it, which is great! Crocheting blankets for those in need is such a kind and thoughtful way to spend your time. I’m sure Buddy is loving all the attention too! We can give him the spotlight as well if you'd send us his photo!

Take care of yourself and keep up the wonderful work you’re doing!

I hear you! Time really does seem to fly by, doesn’t it? It feels like we’re all on that express train, just wishing for a chance to slow down. Maybe the key is finding those little moments to enjoy along the way. Take care and remember, we’re all on this ride together!

That sounds like such a fun way to celebrate your birthdays! 🎉 It must be nice to have that special day to look forward to. February really is a wonderful month to celebrate love, friendship, and all things sweet. I hope this year brings even more fun and joy for both of you!

Oh wow, that sounds like an incredibly tough week! I’m so sorry to hear about all the things that went wrong at once. A broken dryer, getting sick, and dealing with a tooth issue all while stuck in a snowstorm—talk about being hit from all sides. I can only imagine how frustrating it must have been with everything closed down. I hope things are starting to look up for you now, and you and your dog are feeling better! Take it easy and take care of yourself. (Also, funny photo!)

I am so deeply sorry for the heartbreaking experiences you've had. Losing your service dog in such a tragic way and then facing such a difficult situation with your child must be incredibly painful. My heart goes out to you during this tough time. Please know that you’re not alone, and I hope February brings some healing and peace your way. If you ever need someone to talk to, don’t hesitate to reach out. Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

Hi I am still figuring out Grapevine sorry it took so long to get back to you. Kiara is 15 weeks old. A black lab with abundant energy. We are training her to release items because she is into everything! Thankfully my sock survived! You may feature her.

No worries at all! GrayVine may take a little time to get used to, but you’re doing just fine. Kiara sounds like an absolute bundle of energy—15 weeks old and already keeping you on your toes! Glad to hear your sock made it through the adventure! Thanks again for sharing and look out for her feature!😊
