General Discussion Thread 05.16.2025

My, oh my. Would you look at that—it’s Friday already! I (Ally) am back to wish you a good morning and that the rest of your weekend is filled with fun. A family friend of ours stopped by and surprised us with a whole basket of fruit this morning, and I've had loads of fun making smoothies for my family. It was such a sweet surprise that it got me thinking: What’s a nice gesture you’ve received that you can’t forget? Share your lovely stories with me, and let's all bask in the warmth together. 💜

Or, if you have something else you'd like to share—whether it’s a cool fact you just learned, a funny story, or something that’s been bothering you—feel free to comment them down, too! This General Discussion Thread is created just for you, so feel free to engage with your fellow members!

Now, what's on YOUR mind today?

My husband fell and broke his ankle in three places last April. He didn't get surgery until January and is just now starting Physical Therapy. He has been non-weight bearing for a year now. When we were at one of his ortho appointments he saw a girl using a regular walker and expressed an interest in one. I went on our Neighborhood site and asked if anyone had one. I received a response and it was free. She lived quite a ways from us and I get lost wherever I go so she offered to drive it to me. I couldn't believe it!!! It was a wonderful gesture and I was so grateful. He is now using it everyday for short distances. What an incredible person she was!

On Mother’s Day I went out to breakfast with art of my family. When I came home there was a bouquet of flowers at my door. No card no name. I think I know who they are from but I have to make something to give to her before I ask!

27 JULY, 2016. AS MY HUSBAND AND I WERE LEAVING AN EMERGENCY ROOM IN BRANSON ,MO HE KEPT FALLING FALLING. THIS LADY ( IN 80'S)AND HER HUSBAND WERE ALSO LEAVING. WE WERE GOING TO HAVE TO WALK HOME. SHE STOPPED AND HELPED ME GET HIM UP AND TOLD US ( NOT ASK) AHE WAS DRIVING US HOME. SHORTLY AFTER WE STARTED MY HUSBAND SUDDENLY DIED IN HER CAR. SHE IMMEDIATELY TURNED AROUND AND WENT STRAIGHT BACK TO THE ER.SHE SAT WITH ME, A TOTAL STRANGER, WHILE THEY TRIED TO REVIVE MY HUSBAND. SHE TOOK MY PHONE NUMBER AND CHECKED ME SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE SURE I WAS ALRIGHT. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO SPEAK WITH HER ONE TIME. I WILL NEVER FORGET HER KINDNESS TOWARDS A STRANGER.

My mom and I went for lunch at our usual diner. A man in the next booth (was sitting with his grandson and was almost done with their meal) asked if I am related to my mother and it is so nice that I help her out. (My mom is blind, has essential tremors and is disabled from a hip fracture.) We exchanged a little more small talk and then they said have a good day which returned the same. When we finally finished our meal I asked for the check. The manager came over and told us that the gentleman already paid for our meal and a dessert which we ended up taking home as we were stuffed. I told the manager to tell the gentleman thank you next time he sees him. We have been back numerous occasions and I have not seen the man. What a nice thing for him to do.
