General Discussion Thread 09.12.2025

Hey GrayViners!

We all have a few pieces that once felt like our signature—whether it was a favorite pair of jeans, a bold hat, or those shoes you swore you’d never part with. But time has a way of nudging our tastes (and sometimes our knees and hips!) toward something a little more comfortable.

So here’s today’s question to get us swapping memories: What type of clothes did you stop wearing because of your age?

I’ll go first: I finally gave up my old skinny jeans. Back in the day I thought they were the height of style, but these days I’d rather breathe easy than wiggle into anything that snug.

How about you? Was it high heels, mini skirts, or maybe those wide ties from the seventies?

Share your answer below and let’s see which fashions we’ve all lovingly retired—and maybe laugh at a few fashion flashbacks together.

Cheers!
Blue 💙

Age = Yes & No... in 2000 my husband & I left Florida to get to the country... We had found 34+ acres in NE Tennessee...He passed in 2019 as a "Nam Vet from complications of agent orange... So I moved back to Florida... BUT have not been able to return to shorts... just long slender pants-jeans ---oh I'm in my 70's

Until the last five years I have always worn something a little glittery, a rhinestone or two, shoes with "WOW". (I was a '70's rock groupie, so there ya go) much more subtle then the 70's though. Now the most you'll see are smaller silver earrings, smaller dangles with natural stones, simple silver bangle bracelets, tee shirts, capris, jeans. and no more nursing scrubs! Still get many compliments on my shoes but they are flat loafers, fisherman sandals, etc. in bright colors. This is me now at age 69.

Any top that is tight and clingy. Loose loose to cover up my fat and rolls. And my cowboy boots and heels. Just comfortable safe to walk in shoes.

Because of a diagnosis of Stenosis, I had to give up my long loved high heels at the age of 61. I always prided myself by having (what I thought) the best shoes in the room. Now I have Sketchers Slipins ugh !
