Hey GrayViners!

There’s something special about those quiet moments at the edges of the day, isn’t there?

Whether it’s the soft light of morning breaking through the window or the warm glow that settles over everything as the day winds down—both have a way of making you pause and take it all in. Some folks find peace in the stillness of dawn, while others love the gentle goodbye of a sunset.

So here’s today’s question: Which do you love more—sunrise or sunset?

Are you someone who loves greeting the day early, or do you prefer to sit back and watch the sky put on its evening show?

As for me, I’ve always been more of a sunrise person. There’s something about watching the world slowly wake up—the quiet streets, the soft light, that little feeling of hope that comes with a brand-new start. It reminds me that no matter how long the night feels, the sun always finds its way back.

Now it’s your turn! Tell us which one speaks to you—the peaceful start of a new day, or the beautiful calm of its ending.

Cheers!
Blue 💙

I have never been an early bird. I stay up until 11 at night, that is my relaxing time. I sleep untill 8:30am. Sun rises are beautiful. but I enjoy my sleep, so sunsets are beautiful also.

I’m divided. In the service early morning sunrises were the norm. Living in the country in North Dakota the colors of our sun rising was amazing! The air felt clean and invigorating!
In the same open spaces sunsets are a beautiful display of colors. I feel more calm for the first time daily during any sunset.
Since we retired we see VERY few sunrises!

I like both. I am an early riser, but love sunsets too. Like the song TAPS,

Day is done,. Gone the sun,. From the hills,. From the lake,. From the skies. All is well,. Safely rest,. God is nigh. Go to sleep,.

Thanks for sharing that @tennis ! It sounds like you really treasure those peaceful evening hours — such a nice way to unwind after the day. 🌇 Do you have a favorite spot or routine for watching the sunset when you get the chance?

Thanks for sharing that wonderful reflection @Gayle B. ! 🌅 It sounds like you’ve experienced both sunrise and sunset at their best — from those crisp, colorful North Dakota mornings to the peaceful calm of retirement evenings. Do you ever miss those early starts, or are you perfectly happy soaking in the sunsets these days?

I used to be an early bird but since retirement (I sleep until 10 a.m.) sunsets would be my choice.
Thanks for sharing that @NIBOR0 ! Retirement definitely changes our rhythms, doesn’t it? 😊 There’s something lovely about slowing down and enjoying a beautiful sunset instead of rushing to catch the sunrise. Do you have a favorite place or view where you like to watch the sun go down?

Thanks for sharing that beautiful thought @Wiseoldone — and for including those touching lines. 🌄 It really captures the peaceful feeling of a day well spent. Since you enjoy both sunrise and sunset, do you find one feels more calming or meaningful to you?

Sunrise, the beginning of of a new day. Peace and quiet
Thanks for sharing that @Czech7985 ! 🌅 There’s something so special about those early, peaceful hours when the world is just waking up. Do you like to start your mornings outdoors to enjoy the sunrise, or simply take in the view from home with a cup of coffee?

Eearly bird the sunrise
Thanks for sharing that @Cochy ! 🌅 There’s nothing quite like being up early to catch the sunrise — it feels like the world is fresh and full of promise. Do you usually watch it with a coffee in hand, or do you just enjoy the quiet and stillness of the morning?

I am an early bird. I love the sunrise and the beginning of a new day to share new beginnings, or embrace old things, conquer the day, stay motivated and positive.
Thanks for sharing that @Hazeleyes ! 🌞 Your outlook is so uplifting — there’s something inspiring about treating each sunrise as a chance for new beginnings. Do you have any morning rituals or habits that help you start the day on such a positive note?

I love the early sun rises. So quiet and peaceful as the day dawning sets in. I am one who sleeps very little so regardless of when i go to bed, am up at 0530. Living in the mountains offered me far more than living in the city. Do not like here

My cat Bruno tells me it is time to get up usually between 3-4 am as he wants to get fed. As I first make my way to the bathroom to do my business he goes as well most of the times (sometimes he already went or other times he goes later). Then I feed him and make my coffee. I give thanks that I woke up to a new day and look outside to see how it is outside. This morning it was snow flurries. I turn on the news and listen to it while I read emails and check Facebook on what friends and family has posted.
