General Motors recalls over 62,000 vehicles—these models are included

If you own a Chevrolet Silverado HD, you may want to double-check your model year—General Motors has issued a large-scale recall.

The issue affects over 62,000 trucks across the US and involves a brake pressure sensor problem that could lead to a fire.

According to the NHTSA, the electrical system could short out due to leaking brake fluid. That creates a serious fire risk whether your vehicle is moving or parked.

The root of the recall is a brake pressure sensor assembly that can allow fluid to leak into the pressure switch.

GM confirms that this leak may trigger an electrical short, causing the circuit to overheat. In rare cases, this could lead to vehicle fires without any prior warning to drivers.

As a result, the manufacturer is taking steps to alert owners and offer repairs at no cost. The recall impacts Chevrolet Silverado 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD models built between 2019 and 2024.

According to GM’s report to the NHTSA, a total of 62,468 trucks are involved. Vehicles made prior to 2019 use a different system and are not part of the recall. Some 2024 models built with silicone-sealed brake switch wire harnesses are also unaffected.
