- 1 (14 ounces) prepared angel food cake, divided
- 2 cups cherry pie filling, divided
- 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1-1/2 cups half-and-half cream or whole milk
- 1 tub (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds, optional
- Create the first layer by placing half of the cake cubes in an even layer at the bottom of a 9x9-inch glass dish or trifle bowl.
- Spoon 1 cup of the cherry pie filling over the cake, spreading it evenly. Scatter the remaining cake cubes over the cherry layer.
- In a large bowl, vigorously whisk the vanilla pudding mix, Greek yogurt, and half-and-half (or milk) together for about one minute until the mixture begins to thicken. Pour this over the cake layers and smooth it out. Next, spread the whipped topping over the pudding. Dollop the remaining cup of cherry pie filling on top, then use a knife or toothpick to gently swirl it into the whipped topping for a marbled effect.
- Cover the dish and refrigerate it for at least 8 hours, or ideally overnight. Just before serving, garnish with slivered almonds if you like.
