Heir Loss
An old man lived his whole life beside a beautiful forest. As the years went by, his once thick head of hair began to thin, until one day, lying in bed near the end of his days, he was completely bald.
He gathered his children around and said, “Look at my head—once full, now bare. My hair is gone and can’t be replaced. But that forest out there, with all its trees—it’s still full of life. One day, those trees will be gone too.”
He paused and smiled softly. “So here’s what I want you to do. Every time a tree falls or is cut down, plant a new one in my memory. And tell your children to do the same after you. Let’s keep this forest alive.”
And that’s exactly what they did. Generation after generation, whenever a tree was lost, a new one took its place.
The forest stayed lush and green for centuries, all thanks to one man—and his re-seeding heirline.
