His Wit Was Quicker Than The Car

One sunny Friday afternoon, a retired gentleman was cruising along the highway in his brand-new BMW. Feeling a little playful, he pressed the pedal and watched the speedometer climb—90… 100… even 110 miles per hour.

Then, in his rearview mirror, he spotted flashing lights. For a split second, he thought about outrunning them—after all, the car could do it—but then he laughed to himself. “What am I doing? I’m too old for this nonsense!”

He eased over to the shoulder and waited. The officer walked up, glanced at his watch, and said, “Sir, my shift ends in ten minutes, and I’m taking the family away for the weekend. If you can give me a reason for speeding that I’ve never heard before, I’ll let you go.”

The gentleman leaned out the window and said with a perfectly straight face, “Officer, years ago my wife ran off with a policeman. I thought you were bringing her back.”

The officer chuckled, shook his head, and said, “Have a good day, sir.” :ROFLMAO:
