Honda recall alert: Is your car affected by this major glitch?

As automotive tech advances, so do the risks of unexpected glitches. Honda is now facing a major recall due to a serious issue in their vehicles. Could your Honda be at risk?

Honda has issued a recall for approximately 295,000 vehicles across the United States, citing a software error that could lead to some heart-stopping moments on the road.

The glitch, found in the fuel injection electronic control unit (FI-ECU), has the potential to cause engines to stall or lose power unexpectedly.

This isn't just a minor inconvenience; it's a safety hazard that could increase the risk of a crash or injury.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has been notified, and Honda is taking action to address the issue.

The problem lies in the improper programming of the FI-ECU, which could result in sudden changes in throttle response.

This may trigger the check engine light and, more critically, cause the engine to lose drive power, hesitate, or even stall.

The recall spans several models and years, specifically targeting the following vehicles:
  • 2022-2025 Acura MDX Type-S
  • 2023-2025 Honda Pilot
    2021-2025 Acura TLX Type-S
If you're driving one of these models, it's crucial to be aware of the recall and take the necessary steps to ensure your safety and the safety of your passengers.

Honda is proactively reaching out to registered owners of the affected models, with notifications expected to be sent by mail starting in March.

If you're one of the owners, you'll be instructed to bring your vehicle to an authorized Honda or Acura dealer.

There, the FI-ECU software will be updated free of charge, rectifying the error and safeguarding your vehicle's performance.

In the meantime, if you have concerns or need immediate assistance, you can contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138.

The recall numbers to reference are EL1 and AL0.

Additionally, the NHTSA's Vehicle Safety Hotline is available at 1-888-327-4236, and further information can be found at nhtsa.gov.
