Is your car safe to drive? Software glitch prompts recall of 40,000+ vehicles

In today’s tech-reliant driving world, a working dashboard is as essential as your keys.

When it fails, it’s more than just an inconvenience—it’s a safety issue.

Drivers across the country are now facing that exact risk.

The culprit? A software glitch that could black out your entire instrument panel while driving.

What Went Wrong

Volkswagen Group of America has issued a recall affecting more than 40,000 Audi vehicles from the 2021 model year due to a software error tied to an aging flex-foil cable.

This issue can cause the entire instrument panel display to fail—leaving drivers without a speedometer, warning lights, gear indicators, or even mileage info.

As of March 24, 2,285 customer complaints had been filed, although no crashes or injuries have been reported.
