Lobsters' Very Personal Way of Communication

Did you know? Lobsters don’t just wave their claws around to communicate—they’ve got a secret weapon. They send chemical messages to each other, kind of like writing notes… but underwater.



But how do they send these signals? Not through sound or gestures. Lobsters deliver their messages through urine. And here’s the surprise: they pee out of their heads. Right near their antennae, they have little openings called nephropores that release urine, spraying messages to lobsters nearby.
