The affected models are LG branded ovens, specifically the Slide-In and Freestanding Electric Range series. The model numbers to look out for are as follows:
These model numbers can be found printed inside the oven’s door or on the storage drawer. For specific serial numbers affected by this recall, please refer to the CPSC recall page.
The ovens in question were sold from 2015 through January 2025, and the recall follows alarming reports of accidental knob contact by humans or pets, leading to unintentional activation. This poses a serious fire hazard and has already resulted in property damage, injuries, and even the tragic loss of pets.
The CPSC has documented over 86 incidents, including more than 28 fires. At least five of these fires caused extensive property damage, totaling over $340,000.
“These LG ranges have been involved in more than 28 fires,” the CPSC shared. “At least five fires caused extensive property damage totaling over $340,000. At least eight minor injuries have been reported, including burns, and there have been reports of three fires involving pet deaths.”
If you own an LG oven, it's imperative to check your model and serial number immediately.
Should your oven match the recall information, LG is offering a free warning sticker and instructions on how to use the control lock feature on your oven range to prevent accidental activation.
To obtain these safety measures, contact LG directly at 800-399-3265 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or reach out via email at [email protected]. You can also visit the recall website for more information.
