Fontaine's approach to fast food is all about balance and making smart choices that align with your health goals. In a TikTok video that has captured the attention of over 271,000 viewers, he shares his strategy for enjoying a Wendy's sandwich.

This isn't just a one-off tip; it's part of a series where Fontaine explores how to modify meals at various fast food chains to support a healthier lifestyle.

“This is the best secret menu hack to help you lose weight without giving up fast food. I’ve been going around to every fast food restaurant. Digging into their menus, and seeing how I can modify meals. To help you stick to your calorie deficit while you’re on the go. So far I’ve done Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Dunkin’, and so many more.” He said.

“And I’ll be going to KFC next. Now obviously fast food isn’t the ideal choice when it comes to nutrition. But much like all aspects of life, it’s about striking a balance. So in order to achieve that balance, we just want to focus on getting in as much protein as possible.” Fontaine also added.

Here is what Fontaine ordered, “Get a classic chicken sandwich. But order it with an extra patty. With this modification this meal does come out to 750 calories, but it also packs 51 grams of protein.”

“Helping you to stay full and proving that you can incorporate a fast food meal on occasion. As part of an overall healthy balanced diet.”

The emphasis on protein is well-founded. Nutritionists often tout the benefits of protein for satiety and muscle maintenance. High-protein diets can help individuals feel fuller for longer, maintain muscle mass, and support muscle growth.

This is particularly beneficial for those looking to reduce their body mass index (BMI) and improve overall health. Unlike fast-burning carbohydrates, which leave us hungry soon after consumption, protein provides a more sustained energy source.

So, how does Fontaine's Wendy's hack stack up nutritionally? A standard classic chicken sandwich at Wendy's contains 490 calories, with 21 grams of fat and 28 grams of protein.

By adding an extra patty, the protein content jumps to 51 grams, providing a more favorable protein-to-carbohydrate ratio and potentially aiding in weight loss efforts.

Healthline suggests that an effective macronutrient ratio for weight loss includes 10%-35% protein, 20%-35% fat, and 45%-65% carbohydrates.

Bodybuilders and fitness trainers often recommend even higher protein intake, with some suggesting at least 1 gram of protein per pound of desired body weight.

Additionally, maintaining a caloric deficit is crucial for weight loss, and while exercise burns calories, monitoring food intake remains a vital component.

Fontaine's video has sparked a conversation among fast-food lovers looking for healthier options. Some users share their own calorie-cutting hacks, “When I go to Wendy’s now I just get an order of 6 nuggets instead of fries as my side. Less calories, more protein, super tasty.”

One user said “Usually get the kids meal and instead of a soda I get a bottle of water. Am I ok with that?”

While someone else shared their favorite grilled chicken option on the menu: “They have a grilled chicken wrap that is really good and pretty low in calories. Especially if you remove the ranch dressing.”

A commenter on the app shared their concern about sodium content, “But how much sodium? And before anyone says it doesn’t matter and to just drink water, it does matter.”

A classic chicken sandwich at Wendy's contains 1,450 milligrams of sodium before doubling the patty. It's important to balance protein intake with other nutritional factors, including sodium and fat content.

Would you try Fontaine’s Wendy’s hack? Was it really a hack?
