Raining Reptiles
Did you know that an alligator allegedly fell from the sky in South Carolina? After a heavy thunderstorm in 1843, residents of Charleston found a two-foot-long alligator in the middle of the street—far from any swamp or pond.
How did it get there? Some believed a waterspout or tornado sucked it up from a swamp and carried it skyward. Whatever the cause, it’s not every day that it rains reptiles!
