Ingredients (makes ~4 servings):
- 1 head green cabbage, cut into 1-inch thick rounds
- Olive oil (for brushing)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- ½ cup tomato sauce or ketchup
- ½ cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or Monterey Jack), divided
- ½ teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
- 1 teaspoon grated garlic
- ½ cup chopped green onion
- ½ cup chopped parsley
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400 °F (200 °C). Arrange cabbage rounds on a baking sheet. Brush with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and roast for 10 minutes until just tender and starting to brown at the edges.
- Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine ground beef, garlic, green onion, parsley, chili flakes (if using), half the cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix until combined and form into four patties.
- Remove cabbage from oven. Spread about a tablespoon of tomato sauce on each slice, sprinkle with a little cheese, then top with a beef patty. Finish with more cheese on top.
- Return the tray to the oven and bake for another 10–12 minutes, until the meat is fully cooked and cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve hot, garnished with extra parsley or green onions if desired.
