Ingredients (makes ~4 servings):
  • 1 head green cabbage, cut into 1-inch thick rounds
  • Olive oil (for brushing)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • ½ cup tomato sauce or ketchup
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or Monterey Jack), divided
  • ½ teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon grated garlic
  • ½ cup chopped green onion
  • ½ cup chopped parsley

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 400 °F (200 °C). Arrange cabbage rounds on a baking sheet. Brush with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and roast for 10 minutes until just tender and starting to brown at the edges.
  2. Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine ground beef, garlic, green onion, parsley, chili flakes (if using), half the cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix until combined and form into four patties.
  3. Remove cabbage from oven. Spread about a tablespoon of tomato sauce on each slice, sprinkle with a little cheese, then top with a beef patty. Finish with more cheese on top.
  4. Return the tray to the oven and bake for another 10–12 minutes, until the meat is fully cooked and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with extra parsley or green onions if desired.

These burgers are a smart, satisfying build on comfort food—no bun required. Thanks to Delish for the inspiration. Have a clever low-carb favorite or meatless burger twist that’s won over your family? We’d love to see it—share it in the Cooking & Recipes forum today!
