Safety alert: Major products sold at Walmart recalled over deadly hazards

Walmart is a household name for millions of Americans, a place where you can pick up everything from groceries to gadgets, all under one roof.

But what happens when the products you trust to keep your home running smoothly—or to delight your grandkids—turn out to be dangerous?

That’s exactly the situation facing shoppers right now, as a series of urgent recalls has swept through Walmart stores and Walmart.com, affecting families across the country.

In recent months, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued several high-profile recalls for products sold at Walmart.

These aren’t minor issues, either. We’re talking about hazards that range from tip-overs and choking to fire, burns, and even the risk of death.

The recalls cover a wide range of items, including children’s toys, household furniture, and appliances—products that many of us use every day.

Let’s take a closer look at the specific products that have been pulled from shelves and why:

1. Aiho Five-Drawer Dressers

What’s the risk? These dressers, sold exclusively on Walmart.com, have been recalled because they can tip over easily if not anchored to the wall. This poses a serious risk of entrapment, injury, or even death—especially for young children.

The dressers do not meet the latest safety standards set by the STURDY Act, which was designed to prevent exactly these kinds of accidents.

What should you do? If you own one of these dressers and it’s not anchored, stop using it immediately. Contact Aiho for a refund and follow their instructions for safe disposal.

2. Minecraft Light-Up Slap Ruler Bracelets

What’s the risk? About 75,900 of these fun-looking bracelets, sold nationwide at Walmart, have a battery compartment that can be easily accessed by children.

If a child swallows the battery, it can cause internal burns, serious injury, or even death.

What should you do? Take these bracelets away from children right away. Contact Innovative Designs for a refund and proper disposal instructions.

3. Frigidaire Minifridges (by Curtis International)

What’s the risk? Over 634,000 minifridges have been recalled after 26 reports of the units smoking, catching fire, and causing more than $700,000 in property damage.

Two people have suffered smoke inhalation injuries.

What should you do? Unplug the fridge immediately and stop using it. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for a refund or replacement.

Walmart responds to the recall warnings

Walmart addressed the issue through a statement posted on its recall webpage.

The company said, “Walmart and Sam's Club are committed to the health and safety of our customers and members and to providing products that are safe and compliant, all supported by our health and wellness, product safety, and food safety professionals.”

They added that recalled items are swiftly removed from stores and blocked from further sale.

The CPSC advises all affected consumers to immediately stop using recalled products and follow each manufacturer’s process for refund or proper disposal.

Proof of disposal is typically required before refunds or replacements are issued. Consumers can also file complaints if they believe a recall is not being properly handled.
