Score free VIP tickets to NYC’s iconic 4th of July fireworks show—here’s how

If you’ve ever dreamed of watching the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks with skyline views worthy of a postcard, this year is your chance.

New York City is rolling out the red, white, and blue carpet for locals and tourists alike by giving away a stunning 100,000 free tickets to one of the country’s most dazzling Independence Day displays.

Whether you’re a lifelong New Yorker or just visiting this summer, here’s your complete guide to claiming those highly sought-after seats—and making this 4th of July one to remember.

A fireworks show like no other

Let’s set the scene: The East River sparkles under city lights, the Brooklyn Bridge stretches across the sky, and above it all, over 80,000 fireworks shells erupt into a cascade of color and sound.

This isn’t your average fireworks display—it’s the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, a tradition that has wowed crowds for nearly 50 years.

This summer’s show carries even more significance as New York celebrates its 400th anniversary and gears up for America’s 250th birthday next year.

How to get your free tickets

Mayor Eric Adams and his team are making sure this celebration is open to as many people as possible. Here’s how you can get your hands on a ticket:

  • Ticket Release Time: Free tickets will be available starting at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Set your alarms, mark your calendars, and have your phones or computers ready to go.
  • Where to Watch: Tickets offer access to prime viewing locations at Brooklyn Bridge Park and the Seaport’s Pier 16 and Pier 17 in Manhattan. These spots provide some of the most breathtaking views of the fireworks against the city skyline.
  • How Many Can You Get? Each person can request up to four tickets, so you can bring along your family or friends to enjoy the show together.
  • Early Bird Special: Want a head start? Text FIREWORKS to 917-909-2288. The first 2,500 people to do so will receive four free tickets each for Brooklyn Bridge Park—before they’re released to the public.
